*NEW BLOG SITE*

HEY!   So, my friend KK, who lives out here in AZ; her hubby is a computer geek~ so, he made me change my blog site to something different.  Well, actually, I think he just wanted something else to do~ it isn't much of anything, just a different site.  But, little does he know he just opened a whole can of worms doing that~ I am fairly stupid when it comes to computers.  Well, not really, but kinda.  When it's technical stuff I am.  Making documents and stuff I can do, on a PC, but the behind the scenes of web-sites and stuff.... that's going to be ALL HIM!!  So, lets just hope this works out for the best, and he doesn't end up hating me...

and if any of you know much about WordPress.... feel free to send me some info... because I have NO clue about it!  and neither does the computer geek who set me up with this!  :)  I am just now learning!

*Pleasant Lake*

We have been wanting to put our stand-up jet ski in the water since we've got here, and we finally decided to do so the other day!  One the side of the lake that we live on, there really isn't a good "family friendly" area to hang out.  So, we drove to the other side of Lake Pleasant~ Brent put the ski in on our side of the lake and I drove the kids to the other side.  We did it this way because you have to pay to get in on the other side and they charge you depending on if you are a car/bus and if you are towing a watercraft.  It was $4 cheaper just to have Brent meet up with the ski on the other side.  It was really cool to drive to the other side.  It was just pretty and really cool to see the dam, i read up on it after we got home, and just the history was really cool!
Anyway~ The coolest thing about this lake is that you can drive your car pretty much anywhere!  I mean, RIGHT up to the water!  I wish I had a few more pictures of this, it was really neat.  There isn't any sand, so it's not like a beach, just a shore line.  It's all rocky~ well, it's like there once used to be roads all around then the lake got deeper and washed some of the roads away~ I tried to googled it, but, nothing really turned up.  Anyway, we had a great time, and it was awesome to have the car right there!  No need to haul crap out to the 'beach' or anything!  Just unloaded the car and jumped in the water!  Shortly after we arrived, a few other cars showed up.  Out gets a couple of adults, and then a couple of kids.  Then another few adults, and then some more kids, and then out comes a couple more adults.  It was a mom and dad, their three sons and 2 of their wife's and then 7 kids between two of the brothers.  The kids ages were around 9, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1, and 6 months.
We ended up talking to them, and they were some really cool people.  It was great to meet a couple of ladies with children the same age as Sylas and Turner!  We exchanged numbers, and I really hope to see them again!  The 2 families with kids live up in the area of AZ where we would like to settle, so that was pretty cool~ I got to chit chat about the area and what areas in that town were good and which areas were not good.  We got to ride the Jet-Ski as well!  We haven't been on the ski in a couple of months because we had been preparing ourselves for the move so we really didn't have any time to go out on it.  The water was way too perfect to ride; it was windy, but calm waters!  It was great being back on it!  The water is also fairly clear!  I mean, you could see about 7-8 feet under water!  We stayed out there on the water for about 4 hours or so.  It was such a beautiful day!  When we got back home, well, back to the RV, we ALL crashed for over 2 hours!  We were woken up by Sylas asking us to make him a sandwich!  This was definitely a spot we will go back to again!  I will take more pictures next time and share them with you!

*Who Knew*

I was born and raised in North Carolina.  But, there was a short period of time that my family lived in Georgia.  My father got transferred with a few months left in my 3rd grade school year~ which was fine with me because I didn't like my 3rd grade teacher!  So, we moved, and there was a little girl (KK) who lived across the street from me and a little girl (KP) who lived next door.  I say little girls... but we all were the same age!  I became instant friends with both of them!  I was playing with one of them most days and had sleep overs with either of them most weekends!  We only lived there for two years before my parents decided we needed to move back to Charlotte.  I had just graduated from 5th grade and I had to say my good bye's to the neighbor girls and we moved on~ that was it.  Fast forward 12 or so years later.... some how I got reconnected with KK (the girl who lived across the street from me in Georgia), I honestly don't know how, but I did.  KK lived somewhere up in New York.  My mom and I went to NYC for some fun and the girl who lived across the street from me decided to take the train down to the City one day to see us!  That was super cool!  After our visit that day, our lives went on... I didn't see/talk to her again until... FaceBook came about!  Here, about 8 years after we saw each other in NYC, we got reconnected again!  She has a brother who lives in Raleigh, NC and when she went to visit him for Thanksgiving one year, I made the 3 hour drive over to visit KK's family and her brothers family~ at this point she was married and had a little one who had just turned 1 and was living in Arizona.  Super cute kid~ Now, fast forward 4 more years later....we decided we are going to move to Arizona, and all i can think about how excited I was to be going some where I knew some body!  Even though, we only knew each other for a couple of years I felt we had a great connection from FB that it wouldn't be difficult to be friends anyway!  And she now has 2 more beautiful little girls!! And these 2 girls just happen to be the same age as my 2 boys!  So, a couple days after we arrived in AZ, I went to her house to do some MUCH NEEDED laundry and to let our children play together!

Who knew that when we were 8,  9, & 10 years old, that we would cross paths again 23/24 years later??   I have to say, I believe G-d allowed KK and I to cross path's at such a young age knowing our paths would cross again much later in life!  I believe he knew I would need her again in my life!

Here are a few pictures from our play date!  The best thing about our visit with her and her family, is that she cooked us a meal!  I mean, a home cooked meal... after being on the road for 5 days and in a hotel for a  couple of days, I was DONE with FAST FOOD!!  It was soo awesome of her to feed Sylas and I!

This first picture is our youngest children.. Turner and MC.  MC is 11 days older than Turner!

This Picutre is of Sylas and AG.  AG is right at 2 years older than Sylas!

I know  this is blurry, but this is my son playing dress up with the girls!  This is his favorite thing to play when there are dress up clothes around!  He has no shame!

This is my friends husband with the 2 babies!

*Ruger .380*

My husband has always enjoyed shooting guns and i have always not been a fan of them! However, now that we live in the Wild Wild West, I have been told I need to learn to shoot a gun! I'm cool with that, but it's something I NEVER thought I'd do!
We went down to Ben Avery Shooting Range the other day for me to start learning how to shoot a Ruger .380.  I was actually surprised about how much fun I had!  I think I impressed Brent and some others down there with how well I shot for my first time!  I think I inherited some traits from my 'war hero' ancestors!  However, even tho I have impressed a few people; I still have LOTS to learn!!  I am pretty excited about this... we'll see how long my excitement lasts about it! :)
This shooting range has some classes for 'women only'!  I'm excited to try and go to a few classes!  They are only offered once or twice a month, so depending on Brent's travel schedule, I hope to be able to get down there a few times.
My First Ever set of shots~ they are circled because Brent & his dad hit my target some too!

My Second ever set of shots!  ALL MY OWN!!  Pretty darn good from what I hear!

*NC to AZ*

I was so worried having to drive across country with two little ones (2 and a half & 4 months), i had only ever driven to the beach with the boys, which is a 4 hour drive, not a 33 hour drive!!  And the 4 hour drive was always turned into a 5 or 6 hour drive with all the stopping to feed the baby and change diapers!  Yes, it was frustrating at times....I just wanted to get to the beach!  This time, a 33 hour drive...done over 5 days~ Anyway, I asked a few friends if they had any advice for me to help pass the time for the 2.5 yr old! I had some awesome suggestions! Are you ready for this??!?

#1) This is a super cool travel mat which lays across the child's lap and snaps around a childs car seat. It is strong enough for a child to eat on, as well as play on! It's only $20, and i highly recommend this if you are going on any length of a trip!!

#2) Have a box of stuff to hand back to the little one when he gets antsy!  This was a life savor!!  I was actually OVER prepared!  Better over prepared than under prepared!  I had zip-lock baggies with snacks in them, zip-lock baggies with a couple pieces of paper and crayons, cars, army men, legos, I had books and bags of chips!  Every time the boy was getting antsy or when the iPad died, I would reach into my box of stuff and pass something back to him!

Well, as we embarked on our new adventure and drove away from our little lovely house on Saturday September 1st, many tears were shed!  Such a sad day.  To make our trip a little bit more fun, we named our Penske Truck "Big Bird".

It was super sad because the city we left was the city i was born and raised in for 33 years!!!  I really had no clue there really was more out there... So, here we go...

The first day we drove 417 from Charlotte, NC to Nashville, Tenn.  My Aunt and Uncle were so kind to allow us to crash their house! We arrived that evening around 8pm or so, and we were so exhausted, we literally went straight to bed.  Sunday morning, my aunt got up and had a WONDERFUL breakfast for us! Bacon, eggs, bagels, yogart, cereal, fruit, and who knows what else she had available! So awesome! So thankful for them allowing us to crash for the night!

On Sunday, day 2, we drove 429 miles out to Piney Bay, Arkansas. We camped at a pretty cool place. We all slept in the tent, however, i barely slept that night.  I grew up camping, but not really "car" camping... which is what we did since we were driving across country~ I wouldn't suggest camping after a day of driving 400+ miles!

I say it was pretty awesome place, but not when you are driving across the country and you are completely exhausted! Otherwise, it is a spot i'd love to visit and camp again!

Monday, day 3, was our most eventful day for the whole trip!  We drove 431 miles!  We drove all the way through Oklahoma! This was a very pretty state!  Flat, yes, but it was very pretty!  We drove through OK City, which was really cool~ I didn't take any pictures, because I had to concentrate on driving (it was a crazy place!), it looked as if they had just redone I-40 all the way through OKC~ it wasn't even on my GPS.... and all the different directions you could go were wack!  I would have got lost if i wasn't paying super close attention.

However, the drive through OK was the most eventful of our whole trip.... The trailer being pulled by the Big Bird, which had my car on it, got a flat tire!  Not a HUGE deal, but the crappy thing about this, was when we called Penske, they said since Monday was a Holiday the closest guy working was about an  hour away!!

Therefore, Brent ended up a total of 3 hours behind us!   Which was no fun!  I was so used to him catching up with us when we stopped to change diapers or to feed Turner.

We finally made it to Texas!  We stayed in a little town called Shamrock.  When we arrived at the hotel, it was a little too early to stop for dinner, but a little to late to have a little snack.  So we decided to go swimming at the Hotel.  Once we were done and we were walking way back to our room, i stopped to ask the guy at the front desk about ordering a pizza~ I figured since Brent was 3 hours behind us, just ordering something in would be perfect!  He looked at me a little weird, and said, there was only 1 pizza place in town, a few blocks over, but they were closed on Sundays & Mondays.  Then he said, there might be another pizza place, but since it was a holiday, nothing was open!  I called Brent, and at this point he was only about an hour from the hotel; so he stopped in the little town he was driving through and picked up a pizza!  Yes, it was cold by the time it got to me!  But, let me tell ya.... it was yummy!  FINALLY.... Our little family was back together again....

Tuesday, Day 4, was a HUGE day!!  On this day we drove the longest!  We drove 523 miles!!  From Shamrock, TX to Gallup, NM!  We started this day out VERY rested, and I had it in my head, I would stop every hundred miles or so to feed Turner~ Started off great... stopped about 100 miles into our trip, then again about 190 miles into our trip to eat lunch... then something happened~ I guess I waited too long since I fed Turner and ate lunch, but about 15 minutes after we got back on the road again from eating; Turner was loosing his mind!!  So, I finally found an exit with some sort of gas station~ Newkirk, NM ~ well, i exited at another 'run down' exit; but it was going to have to work this time since he had been screaming for about 30 minutes~ the ONLY thing at this exit was this little church and this little gas station! (I goggled Newkirk, and found a ton of pictures, you should look at these, wish I spent more time looking around)

The gas station had about 4 pumps just like this one, and all were still in working order~ also, attached to the gas station was a post office~ I now wish I had taken a picture of this gas station, but I found a picture on line, take a look at it here! I didn't get a chance to go inside the gas station (i regret this now)~ but I did see these two guys with bicycles (they looked professional), so I got out of the car and asked them what their story was.  I am so glad I did!!  They said they were riding their bikes from New York to California on Route 66!!  And they were just camping along the way! CRAZY but COOL!!  I asked if I could take a picture of them... and I stuck Sy in the picture just so it wouldn't be so random~ They wanted the picture so I Emailed it to them and they sent me an Email back~ They have a blog... but it's in German; I'm going to have to get my buddy back home to translate it for me! :)

Hey Arial
I got your Mail thank you very much! hope
everything is going well with moving. i think
moving with a Family is more exausting then riding
thru the US!
good luck on the new place

Harco and Simon
PS: the blog will be better in a few weeks.

I just thought it was really cool!  They were really nice too~ they had bought several postcards and were mailing them out there... super cool; I can't wait to see their blog once it's done a lot better!

Anyway... back on the road; about 30 miles from our destination for the night, we came across the Continental Divide!  I decided I had to stop even though we had been on the road LONG ENOUGH that day!  Such a cool thing to say you've seen/been to!  I have seen the Continental Divide when I was in Colorado in High School, but this was just super cool!  I took more pictures, but here are a ton I found on-line.  Most of mine look exactly the same, I am just too lazy to up load them right now...Sorry!

That was all my excitement for the day of over 500 miles of driving!!  We finally arrived in Gallup, NM! In another hotel bed...

I guess Sy needed a workout from riding in a car for over 500 miles... he told me he was doing some push ups!

Finally, Wednesday, Day 5 of driving~ we only had 313 miles of driving this day... finally we made it to Arizona!!  We started this day off only 16 miles from the Arizona boarder, so we hadn't had time to get all antsy in the car yet!  I had to drive a bit further before I stopped to feed Turner, so I decided to stop at the Petrified Forest National Park.  We didn't drive through the forest because it was about 27 miles long, and we were all ready to get to our destination in Arizona.  However we did go into the visitors center there, only because I REALLY wanted to see it!  It wasn't too much to write home about, but it was pretty interesting!

We got back on the road and continued down into Flagstaff, AZ.  We stopped and ate lunch at a Cracker Barrel.  My most favorite place to eat breakfast back home and the closest place to my house was Cracker Barrel.  It was only fitting we stop there to eat since my last meal in NC was there, so I had to make it my first meal in my new state!  Good food, and good service, always!

After lunch, the boys fell asleep, and I got to drive almost the rest of the way to our destination without stopping!  We arrived in Anthem, AZ mid afternoon!  Thank goodness!  We ALL were beat from the trip and ready for some much needed down time!

We made it to our destination in Arizona alive.... and we still love each other!  As sad as I was to leave the place I will always call home, I am so excited to start a new adventure with this man!!  I love him so very much and can't wait to see what this chapter has in store for us!

*Spreading Your Wings*

As our *adventure* creeps closer and closer, my thoughts and emotions seem to become crazier and scarier!

K and I August 2012
I went to high school with this lady!  However, we knew each other in high school, we never really hung out; but we shared a chair when we graduated!  We had some mutual friends tho~ Just like everyone else around here, it wasn't until F@ceBook came around that we got "re-united" with all of our past friends from back in the day!  Anyway, she lives in South Carolina now while I still live in North Carolina (well, only for a matter of days!).  And for anyone who hadn't spoke in 12 or so years, we became instant friends when we found out we were pregnant at the same time ~ we ended up having our first child with in the matter of a couple of weeks of each other.  As of matter of fact, we both had boys which made life easier to hang out.  I say that, but we both truly enjoy each others company too!!  Well, at least I do!  We have visited several of many times over the past almost 3 years; usually she drops by my house for a couple hours when shes driving to/from visiting her parents; we are a good midway point for her little guy to get out and run around.  She has even stopped by and crashed for the night so she could be just that much closer to getting to her parents house the following day~ Plus it gives us a chance to visit and the boys a chance to play.

Anyway, enough of my little rant, and onto my point about bringing her up in conversation!  Her and her a.dor.a.ble little man H came to visit this past weekend.  Such a great visit before we move away!  She sent me a sweet little note with some strong encouraging words.  Here is what she said:
"....I really am proud of you for spreading your wings,
you are making the move of a lifetime, try not to stress
and enjoy every minute of this, it is making you a
stronger wife and mother, major props girl!!
And we will totally visit you guys! Much love, K"
When I read this, I cried~ yes, I cried!  I needed to hear those words.  It was kind of like a "reassurance" that IS okay to move and it's just another *adventure* in life.  I'm just sad because our relationship has grown over the past 3 years; and it's been great!  Even tho we live just about 4 hours away from each other, we've been able to see each other several times a year and get the boys together to play!  I am going to miss our little visits from K and H..... Going to Cracker Barrel isn't going to be the same when we are in Arizona!  It's been fun hanging out with them and fun to watch our boys learn to fight  play with each other!  I hope we continue to see each other when i come back to NC to visit and that our boys will be life long friends~  K and H... you two are like family and are always welcome in our home (or RV) in Arizona!  We love you two to pieces!

Here are some pictures of the boys together over the past year~ I know there are more of them, but I don't have them readily available right now!

*Yes, We Are Crazy*

WOW!!  We are down to about 17 days until we move to Arizona!!  I have packed half of my kitchen, half of my closet/clothes, and half of our office (3rd bedroom)!  I don't feel I can pack anymore since we still have 17 more days!  What if I need something in that 17 days which I have already packed???  AAGGHHH!!  I think my last 5 days here are going to be ab.so.lute.ly CRAZY!  I have to pack my whole house to go to two different places!  Most of our possessions which we will not need for at least 8 weeks will be in a storage unit, and then the items I will/might need for 8 weeks will be going to the RV!  How does one decide what they JUST MIGHT need for a couple months, maybe longer??

Brent and I will look at each other every-now-and-then and just say "we are crazy"!!  Needless to say, I think I am more scared than crazy!

Keep up with this blog, I will be posting more often as we build on this move and our family's adventure on this new chapter of our life!!  Yes, we are crazy!!
